Margaret Ferrec is a visual artist living in New York City.
She earned her BA with honors in Fine Art Studio from Judson University in 2012. Additional art education includes a residency with New York Center for Arts & Media Studies in 2011 and courses in film production and script writing at NYU School of Professional Studies in 2019.
Ferrec’s work has been exhibited in Manhattan at The Gallery at W83, works on paper have appeared in several publications, and she’s collaborated with artist-friends over the decade living and working in Manhattan.
With her work, Ferrec explores felt absence and implied spiritual weight. In these plain unadorned spaces, the presence of others is felt within voids, in shadows, and the arrangement of empty chairs. Themes that interest her include longing, the physical expression of spiritual desires, images in memoriam of people or past places. Drawing by hand on paper, linen or wood, she strives to make physical a moment that was specifically human.
